Plastic Bags or Cotton Bags

Image
Plastic bags seem to be one of the most hated things on the planet. But you know when it comes to things like climate change. Paper and cotton bags are actually much worse for the planet than plastic. When people look at environmental impacts, they tend to focus right at the end of the life cycle analysis. They see the plastic pollution that’s a massive problem but what far fewer people see is right at the beginning of the production side. In fact, the plastic bag was originally invented to help save the planet. To my dad, the idea that people would simply throw these away would be bizarre. That’s Rao Thulin, His father Sten Gustaf Thulin is credited with inventing the plastic bag we know today back in Sweden in 1959.  Back then people used paper bags a lot and for those they needed to cut down a lot of trees which was not exactly great for the planet. Sten had an idea, he worked out that if he could create a strong bag that was light and would last for ages, then ...

Women’s empowerment in Pakistan

Women’s  empowerment  in Pakistan is heavily dependent on many different variables that include geographical location (urban/rural), educational status, social status, and age. Working women of Pakistan have always tried to improve the financial stability of their respective households but sadly their work is always undervalued. Empowering socially, economically, educationally, politically and legally has always been a difficult task to achieve in an underdeveloped country. Therefore, Pakistani policymakers should specifically, make the policies on women’s empowerment at the national level for  health ,  education ,  economic   opportunities, gender-based violence,  and political participation. Pakistan’s women development model is very much a work in progress where deep-rooted challenges remain. The World Economic Forum has placed Pakistan as the second-worst country on gender equality in its 2017 Global Gender Gap Index. The index placed Pakis...

Save Community by Plantation

Image
Ways we can help mitigate climate change effects from our community are: 1. Smart and green transportation Around the world, transport contributes about a quarter of the pollution that causes climate change. This comes from cars, trucks, buses, planes, and ships burning fuel made from oil. Building a sustainable economy means ensuring transportation is clean and green. 2. Sustainable eating Livestock farming produces more greenhouse gas than all of the world’s transport combined. This is a result of land clearing, methane (a powerful warming gas) produced by cows and sheep, and a range of other factors. Even if you don’t think you can give up brochettes, it’s a good idea to buy food produced locally, which doesn’t have to travel far from the farm gate to your plate. This will help to reduce your personal contribution to climate change. 3. Plant trees As the world underscores trees as a natural offset for carbon emissions, we believes that forests are a...

SAVE MOTHER EARTH

Image
Save Mother Earth As the environmental situation is going grimmer day by day, it's a need of hour to put efforts and join hands with each other to make this world a beautiful place to live in.I as a environmental engineer believe that our country (Pakistan) is on the 7th number of world climate change and it's condition is gradually down day by day. Government took initiatives of billion tree tsunami project to make the pollution condition into normal. The worst city which has been facing pollution now a day's is Lahore. Lahore once called the city of gardens, now it is called the city of concrete. Trees are the other face of mother love and care, which shares, rain, lakes, greenery and of course better the environment. One tree produces oxygen enough for ten toddlers. A tree is equal to one ton air conditioner which produces not only chroflourocarbons but also pollute the atmosphere. Ozone hole is another dilemma now a days, which also grim the situ...
